St. Pancras Station Christmas Tree
About this project
AVILAStudio was approached by a florist retailer who had been granted permission for a temporary installation of a 15 m tall floral Christmas tree in the main hall of St. Pancras Station in November 2017.
The tree structure had to comply with limited weight requirements and allow flower-dressing skirts to be installed in modules overnight. The structure was therefore designed as five independent modules, approximately 3 m high, constructed off-site, shipped for overnight erection and solidly joined together.
Constraints & delivery
The main limits were time — two weeks from design to completion — and overall structural weight allowed on the station floor by Network Rail directives. The project was completed on time, successfully installed within the first week of December, and passengers could enjoy the tree over the Christmas period.
